As an illustrator, I like to tell stories and create expressive characters. For me, good design means not being afraid to reveal a bit of yourself in your work.
History Will Say We Were Good Friends
A comic about the turbulent relationship between two authors.
For my project, I am realising the first chapters of ‘History Will Say We Were Good Friends’. The plot of the comic is inspired by the life story of german poet Friedrich von Schiller, in particular his friendship with his colleague Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
My project is not intended to be an accurate retelling of the actual events. Rather, it is a modern reinterpretation in which the characters are based on real people, but the plot deviates strongly from historical reality in some places. I am primarily interested in the emotional content of the story and what I can take away from it as a child of the 21st century. That's why I put the characters in a new context that is closer to my own lived experience.
